And if a woman marries a man, she has no family name to carry. She remains Mrs myoriginalname. Unlike most people, we are being addressed as Mrs (husband's surname) once we are married.

Interesting
By the way, something interesting I'd like to share with you guys...
Somewhere last month, a colleague of mine who is from Myanmar, educated us that people from there has got no family names like you and me. Only the royal families got surnames.
Now that's new.
And if a woman marries a man, she has no family name to carry. She remains Mrs myoriginalname. Unlike most people, we are being addressed as Mrs (husband's surname) once we are married.

Well if a man were to marry a woman from the royal family, HE WILL HAVE TO CARRY his wife's surname. Cool huh?
Colleague further explains, in his country, most forms have 2 columns for them to fill in their name.
1) Fill in your name,
2) Fill in your surname, if you have any.
So if you were to see someone from Myanmar named "John something" or "Tom something", those "something" doesn't necessary represent their surname nor it's passed down from their ancestors.
